History of Family Tradition Candles
Who I am and what I do
I'm Yoleen Faerber from Bend, OR. My grand-uncle, George Arold, taught me the centuries-old art of candle making when I was a child. Each summer we perfected my hand-dipping skills at the Kutztown Folk Festival in Kutztown, PA, and with the passing of this knowledge, a family tradition was born.
My own twist on candle making is that I use recycled wax, 1.33 tons since 2006, and counting. Other sustainable aspects to Family Tradition Candles are minimal use of packaging, and most of it is recycled. Much of my equipment is second-hand, or a creative re-use of items that might otherwise be in the landfill. I am a proud member of The Green Spot, Central Oregon's guide to green living. I'm also a member of IGCA, the International Guild of Candle Artisans.
I'm able to use my candles to benefit my community by working with and donating to non-profit organizations in town. If you are interested in a silent auction or donation item, or would like to know about other fundraiser options, please contact me.
